Jody is featured in “Becomings: Pregnancy, Phenomenology, and Postmodern Dance” by Johanna Kirk (2024)
Published 2024
Jody says, “I’m incredibly honored to be included in this astoundingly rigorous new book by Johanna Kirk. “BECOMINGS. Pregnancy, Phenomenology, and Post Modern Dance” published by Rutledge Theater and Performance Studies. It is the first time I’ve read words that situate my creative work context of history, alongside artists I admire: Anna Halprin, Trisha Brown, Twyla Tharp, Sandy Jamrog (who coincidentally was my birthing coach!) Jane Comfort, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Miguel Gutièrrez, Yanira Castro, Noémie LaFrance, and Meg Foley. It’s rich, intellectual and philosophically intriguing.
“From the introduction, ‘I look at this set of choreographers as philosophers, theorizing through their bodies…’ This totally resonates with me, on a very human level.”
The book releases to the public in 2026. Order an advanced copy here.
